Garnier-Thiébaut is the oldest producer of linens in Les Vosges, a Region in the
East of France. Created in 1830 Garnier-Thiébaut emerged as the leader in textile development of home linens.
In 1933, the Garnier-Thiébaut family owned 2 weaving factories featuring 500 ultra-modern looms, one bleaching factory, one Jacquard cardboard preparation office and two major textile manufacturing plants.
In 1986 the company was purchased by a finance holding which repositioned its strategy towards the hospitality market. With the arrival of two new designers in 1995, the mass market activity took on new momentum.
Since then the damask home linen collection has built up a worldwide reputation and decorates the most beautiful tables. Garnier-Thiébaut also equips the most renowned gourmet restaurants and prestigious hotels in France and abroad.
Nowadays the company is famous for its beautiful Jacquard style that associates tradition, color, modernity and the art of living in its hand finished textile. The company owns 50 Jacquard looms and has become a master in the use of this technique. The patterns are designed by a CAD team which uses ultra-high performance software that adapts the designers' styles into the Jacquard looms. The design is obtained by interweaving thread. This mechanism makes it possible to program a machine that lifts the warp yarn (length of the fabric) separately from the others (yarn that goes up and down). The combination of warp and weft yarn allows for the creation of designs and numerous color effects thanks to complex weaving programming.
The use of two-ply yarn and Indanthrene coloring (renowned as the best in the world) with their exceptional properties guarantees products with a longer life: perfect stability of colors, controlled loss after washing (5%), brilliance of the fabric, etc. Each thread or fabric that leaves the dyeing vats is inspected and electronically compared to a reference. It is then corrected if necessary.
Completely integrated, the company manages the entire manufacturing process, from the dyeing of the thread to the dispatch of the finished packaged products. Garnier-Thiébaut also works to preserve the environment by controlling its waste and constantly adapting its processes to its natural surroundings.
